Bennett and McKinley...Year in Review

I am finally getting to slow down a bit to get a new journal up. On April 12th, my babies turned one. I can not believe it. It seems like just not too long ago that there were more days than not that it seemed that the days would never end. Now, here it is a year gone by. How can that be....? Why is it that the days seem so long yet the years so short? There are so many things that I already miss about them when they were bitty babies. With Berkeley, we were so young and for so long I refused to even think about another baby, let alone TWO. I was content with my little girl who is perfect in every way. Now, we have two healthy babies added to our family and they have brought so much joy and fun into our dynamic. They absolutely love their big sister and think she is the funniest person alive. They love for her to get down on the floor and wrestle with them. They are getting their own little personalities and attittudes. McKinley is gonna be my sassy drama queen. She will get in Bennett's face and tell him what for if he is doing something to make her mad. On the other hand, Bennett, I think, is going to a biter. With his two bottom teeth, he tries his hardest to bite...usually in response to his sister in his face. He tried to bite her ear the other day. They love each other, though and their relationship is going to one that I look foward to watching grow and strengthen for years to come. As a sister of twins, I know how tight a bond between each other can be. I can only hope that my twins are as close to each other as my sisters are.

Lots going on in the Mardis Family (Feb 28, 2008)

A LOT is happening this week. McKinley cut her top right tooth on Monday. We took Bennett back to the doctor on Tuesday for a follow-up to his last ear infection, to which we find he still has the infection, and we finally got a referral to an ENT. On Wednesday, Bennett FINALLY started getting on his knees AND crawling some AND getting in the seated position by himself. I took McKinley in this morning for a follow-up to her ear infection and hers were still red too. Bennett had his ENT appointment this afternoon and the ENT checked McKinley's ears out as well, and we decided to put tubes in BOTH babies' ears. They will have the procedure next Friday morning. We have to be at the clinic at 7am and we are first on the books. I am very excited about this because we have seen our fare share of the doctor's offices this year and we need a break and I am ready for my babies to feel good again. The doctor was very optimistic about the procedure helping them out tremendously and I have heard nothing but good things about the outcomes from the tubes. As with everything, I know there are risks, but I think for Bennett and McKinley the benefits far outweigh the risks at this point. That is all I have for now....oh new stats...McKinley: 19lbs5oz and Bennett: 17lbs9oz. I forget the lengths. I will update when I have more news.
