Home Renovations

Well, every year, it seems, about this time, Bob (um, Bill) the builder decides its time to tear something up so that he can redo it. Now, don't get me wrong, he is very good at doing all the things that he has done to the house, I am just amused at the thrill he gets to tear something up that is perfectly ok, not broke, just so he can fix it back up again. Well, this year, about 3 weeks ago, he decided to take the flourescent light out of the kitchen and the chandelier out of the breakfast room and replace them with cans, and re-tile the kitchen backsplash, and replace the sink and water faucet. To all of this I can only thank GOD he is in the construction industry and gets most of this stuff either free or for a little bit of nothing from his suppliers that he works with on a regular basis. So, with this project, of course it means he must do some rewiring and running new wires and all kinds of stuff in the attic. Oh, I fogot to mention in the middle of all this a horrendous stomach bug attacked the whole family, and reaked havok for over a week, while of course drug this "little" project out a little bit more. So, the day I was sick, he took to his project, and was in the attic doing some work, and here is what he did:

Yes, he stepped through the ceiling...didn't fall all the way through, thank goodness! Now, we also have a hole in the ceiling to patch. Then Spring Break came, and we had planned to go home for the weekend, so we had to put our project on hold and pack up and head to Natchez. We got back on Tuesday, and he worked on it each night after work. So....Here are some pictures of the before and the after (that we just finished Thursday night about midnight...)

Toddler Beds

So, on the spur of the moment this week, we decided that we wanted to put the toddler beds up and get rid of the cribs. The transition has gone quite smoothly, and they actually played in their room for quite a while before coming out of the room both Saturday and Sunday mornings. YAY!! I was able to sneek in an snap a few pictures...enjoy!

Bennett and McKinley's Natchez Birthday Party

Just a few pictures from Bennett and McKinley's birthday party at Duncan Park in Natchez last weekend. The weather was awesome, and they had a blast....as you can see. I can not believe they will be 2 in a few weeks.....

My mini vacation to Hot Springs

Let me preface this blog by saying that I admit that I have been a slacker these last few weeks, but I hope to get back to regular blogging as soon as I can.

Now....on to the main event!

Five girls, including myself, struck up a friendship during our pregnancies with our twins (all due in May 2007) over 3 years ago on babycenter.com. In the beginning after all our babies were here, we jumped from site to site and finally ended up on a website called CafeMom. We have kept in touch all this time through CafeMom, blogging, email, texting, and even some phone calls every now and then. After many, many ups and downs, laughs and cries, we all were able to meet last weekend in Hot Springs, AR for a much needed R&R getaway. It was an absolutely amazing weekend. You would have thought we had known each other for years and years. We met at our condo Friday....

Hanging out at the condo Friday afternoon, just visiting
Sushi and drinks Friday night

Kelly reading us the directions ...trying to play spoons
Playing Scattergories

On Saturday, wouldn't you know it....every one of us was up before 8am!! We spent the morning with Mommy pampering getting manicures and pedicures....

Afterwards, our very own personal makeup artist, Kelly did our hair and makeup for some photo ops... a la Jen and a night on the town.....

Barbie (WV), moi(AR), Summer(CA), Kelly(TX), Jen(IL)

The weekend went waaaaayyyy too fast, but we are all in agreement that we must continue with our trips. Eventually we want for all of our families to meet up and have all the kids hang out and get to know one another.

Here are some pictures of our condo. It was decorated beautifully, and everything was so homey and comortable.
