Catching up before I forget

So a few things have happened that I need to document before I forget because they totally qualify as "only in my house" events!

1.  Last weekend, I was at the gym, and Bennett and McKinley were in the tub bathing in my bathroom.  Bill had stepped out to get a towel, and to his return, found Bennett's chest bleeding.  YIKES!  Come to find out, McKinley apparently decided he had way too much chest hair, and was helping him shave it off, hence, Bennett's first razor cut.  He has gaurded this cut with his life, and we have just finally convinced him he does not need a band-aid over it anymore.

2.  Bennett has decided that peeing standing up is the cool thing to do, so he tries, bless his soul, to keep it all in the toilet, if only everyone would let him concentrate.  So far we have sprayed the shower curtain, the mirror, the wall and the cabinets in the kids' bathroom.

3.  Yesterday tops them all!  I was at the gym for my weigh in, and came home, finding an inch or more of water in the kids' bathroom.  Seems, while Bill was folding some laundry, McKinley had gone potty, and washed her hands, like she is supposed to (good girl!).  Well, apparently, she also decided to add in some toilet paper to the sink.  Of course it clogs the drain, and begins to fill up.  She goes and tells Daddy that she washed her hands and there were bubbles, to which he only thinks ok, and praises her for doing good.  Little does he know, there is a flood a brewin'......LOL!  So, needless to say he was just as surprised as I was upon finding the mess.  We got is all cleaned up, and everything is fine, and the bathroom got an extra special cleaning for the week.

Well, Whata You Know.......

My sisters have FINALLY seen things my way and started their own family blog.  It is about time!!!  You can find Kristi's here and Kara's here.  YAY!!!!!

In other news, we are going through MAJOR pre-teen drama around here.  On Sunday, my first baby girl entered womanhood.  So far, she has done fabulous adjusting to her "womanly duties", and is quite excited about the whole thing...we will give her a few months and ask her again what she thinks of it.  HAHA!  Also, this week, she spent her first afternoon in ISS (in school suspension).  Major downer for the 'rents, but we are trying to be cool, calm and collected about the whole thing since it really wasn't too terribly serious....could have been a whole lot worse.  She got caught passing notes in class and had called another girl a bitch and a jackass. *GASP*  Now, I will take full responsibility for the jackass part, because that is what I lovingly call my dear husband every now and again, but the B-word is a total shocker and very dissappointing.  I know this is a trying time in her life, and she is gonna try and push the envelope and see how far we let her push, and I can only pray for her sake and ours, that we all come out alive.  This world is mean and hateful, and I all I want is for my children to become good, upstanding, respectable, Christian adults.  So.....of course there is some major grounding at casa Mardis right now, and she has some major redeeming to do, but she has to live and learn just like the rest of us, and that is ok, too....

The twins are doing AWESOME since their surgeries.  Their vocabulary is growing everyday, they are putting together bigger and bigger sentences, and we can actually understand them a whole lot more now.  I think we can officially say that we are about 95% potty trained.  They go all day and through nap completely dry.  We have the occasional accident (which totally freaks them out), but they are pretty much big kids now.

So....there is the latest and greatest of the Mardis 5!  So....until next time.....
